James A. Thompson, OD

Dr. Thompson received his Doctor of Optometry degree with honors from the University Of Houston College Of Optometry in 1998. He also received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alberta in 1994. He served as both a reserve and active duty U.S. Army Optometrist from 1995-2001 in Texas & Germany and was deployed with peacekeepers to Kosovo in 2000 in this capacity. Since 2001, Dr. Thompson has been working with Dr. Jan Lebenhagen in Calgary. Dr. Thompson has extensive experience in primary optometry and in treating ocular disease, minor trauma, and pre / post laser refractive surgery cases. His areas of special interest include dry eye / ocular surface disease, and rigid gas permeable contact lenses.

Jan W. Lebenhagen, OD

Dr. Lebenhagen received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University College of Optometry in 2000. The final year of his schooling placed him in practice settings including a Veterans Affairs hospital focusing on eye disease, and a full scope primary care clinic with pediatrics, sports vision, and low vision concentrations. Since 2001, Dr. Lebenhagen has been working with Dr. James Thompson in Calgary. Dr. Lebenhagen has extensive experience in primary optometry and in treating ocular disease, minor trauma, and pre / post laser refractive surgery cases. His areas of special interest include dry eye / ocular surface disease.

Kiera Garner, OD
Associate, Eaton Centre

Dr. Garner graduated from the University of Waterloo in Optometry in 1981. Dr. Garner practices general optometry and takes pride in providing caring individual attention by going to any length to meet patient's visual needs. She has a strong background in vision therapy, eye exercises, contact lenses, pre/post refractive surgery, and is licensed in TPA's (therapeutic pharmaceuticals) providing her with the professional expertise to treat all types of eye diseases including infections.

Hazel K. Lema, OD
Associate, London Town Square

Dr. Lema’s undergraduate work at Brandeis University in the greater Boston area included a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in theatre arts. It was Dr. Lema’s interest in neuroscience and the interaction between the brain and visual senses that led her to the field of optometry. After completion of her B.A., she continued with two more years of post graduate work in Biology at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. In 2005, she received her degree of optometry from Inter American University in San Juan Puerto Rico. After her schooling was completed Dr. Lema moved to Calgary to be with her husband. There she met Dr. Thompson and Lebenhagen, whom she has worked with since at several of their offices. Dr. Lema practices general optometry and strives to deliver excellence in eye care, attention to detail, and patient education in a friendly and relaxed setting.
