About Us
In August 1993, licensed optician and engineering technologist, John Holmes, opened
the first Eyeclectic Eyewear venue – a refreshingly new optical boutique in the
up-and-coming Eau Claire market of Calgary, Alberta – later migrating to Calgary
Eaton Centre downtown. By 2000, Eyeclectic Eyewear had expanded to Willow Park Village
in Calgary’s Southeast.
An artistic, engaging, and fashion without pretense theme has successfully carried
the Eyeclectic brand over the past 16 years. Personalized service, premium lens
products, and fashion integrated eyewear continue to be its consistent themes. The
addition of optometric services in 1994 ensured the provision of complete eye care
within Eyeclectic’s boutique setting.
Doctors James Thompson and Jan Lebenhagen began their collaborative business in
December 2001 by offering friendly optometric services and a unique optical boutique
shopping experience in the Marda Loop district of Calgary, Alberta. By 2006, they
had expanded to include offices in trendy Kensington and at the London Town Square
shopping centre in Calgary’s Northeast.
Throughout their years together, the doctors have promoted an inclusive, attentive
practice philosophy along with unique, personally tailored optical products.
In December 2008, the doctors purchased Eyeclectic Eyewear’s two venues – expanding
to five locations representing each of Calgary’s five distinctive quadrants. During
2009 the doctors’ existing three offices were re-branded under the Eyeclectic Eyewear banner. The legacy of the Eyeclectic name and brand will now continue through
the diligent care of the doctors, their wonderful management team, and staff.
